Give Your Child an Emotional Foundation for Success
Interactive audio and video based lessons designed to help kids build emotional intelligence and a foundation for self-awareness, self-control, and self-confidence
Build a Feelings Vocabulary
Being able to identify what we are feeling is a fundamental skill for improving self-control and emotional regulation. Being able to talk about feelings helps children connect to others and communicate their needs.
Improve Self-Awareness
Most SEL (Social Emotional Learning) resources and calm corner kits emphasize the skills to regulate emotions while skipping the critical skill of self-awareness. Unfortunately, this is like teaching children to run before they are able to walk. Feelings Detective resources emphasize interoceptive awareness skills and noticing the signals our body sends (ex. fast heart beat, loud voice, tense muscles, etc.) a critical step in recognizing how we are feeling.
Improve Self-Regulation Skills
Being able to regulate our emotional state and use strategies to increase or decrease our energy level as needed is a critical skill for kids (and grown-ups) to develop. Noticing the signals our bodies send and treating ourselves with kindness is a great way to take care of our needs.
